How to Use Amazon Fire TV in Another Country

You can take your compatible Amazon Fire TV device with you when you move or travel abroad.

Annotation: European Union residents have access to the same titles when traveling within the European Union that are available when streaming from their country of residence.

Amazon Fire TV devices work in the following supported countries:

  • Austria (with the exception of the Fire TV Cube)
  • Japan
  • India (with the exception of the Fire TV Cube)

  • Spain

Fire TV Stick Basic Edition works with available Prime Video content in:

To use the compatible device in another supported country, you need to change the country settings in your Amazon account.

  • Currently, Prime Video purchases and rentals are only available for Fire TV and Fire TV Stick devices to customers in the following marketplaces: United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Japan.
  • Eligible customers outside these countries can access streaming content from Prime Video using a Fire TV Stick Basic Edition. The content available through Prime Video varies by country and does not include purchases or rentals.
  • If you change the country settings of your Amazon account, you will no longer be able to access your purchased / rented Prime Videos. Your purchases will still be available if you restore the original regional settings; however, all loans are no longer available.
  • Some apps and games may not work in the new country. If you have any questions about app compatibility, contact the app developer.

To change your country settings to another supported country:

  1. Go to My Content and Devices.
  2. Open the tab Settings.
  3. Go to the section Country settings and choose To change next to your current country.
  4. Enter your new address and select your new country. Choose To update out.
  5. In the notification on the screen, select More and then the option to Transfer your Kindle account or to Updated the default Kindle store.
  6. On your Amazon Fire TV, choose Home > Settings > My account from the menu and then Sign out out.
  7. You will be asked to try your device again to register. In order to be able to use your Amazon Fire TV in the new supported country, please log in again using your Amazon account information.

Stream abroad

Annotation: European Union residents have access to the same titles when traveling within the European Union that are available when streaming from their country of residence.

The categories Movies and Series in the Fire TV menu change automatically and contain rows with Watch abroad. These lines list all of the titles included in Prime that are available for viewing while traveling abroad without having to change your account settings.
